A Summer Internship At Instant Impact

17 August, 2016
Instant Impact Summer Interns
This summer we’ve had the pleasure of being joined by three fab interns in the role of Resourcer. They’ve been working closely with our recruiters to help source candidates for roles and chat to lots of you about what opportunities you're looking for.

We asked them to reflect on their internship so far, what their highlight has been, what they’ve learnt and their give-away piece of advice for anyone thinking about going to do an internship. Here’s their answers for anyone considering an internship and for those of you using recruiters to find your graduate jobs...

Dan

 1. What has been the highlight of your internship?

So many! It was great to see a candidate that I sourced get placed in her first graduate role, and hopefully I'll see a few more get placed before I leave. I've also really enjoyed getting to know all of the team.

2. What have you learnt during your internship?

It's been really useful to see how to write a good CV and come across well at interview, it’s surprising how much just presenting yourself well really matters. It’s definitely all useful stuff I’ll certainly be putting to good use when I’ve graduated and start applying to jobs myself!

3. What’s your top tip for anyone else going to do an internship?

Really look into a role before applying and tailor your CV to every application. It makes such a great first impression if you're familiar with the role and the company when the recruiter first contacts you.

Danielle

1. What has been the highlight of your internship?

Having a great month of sending CVs and achieving placements; so far this month I have sent 10+ CVs to clients.

2. What have you learnt during your internship?

Throughout the internship, I’ve built confidence building rapport with candidates over the phone and feel very confident in trusting my instincts in whether or not a candidate would be a good fit for a role.

3. What’s your top tip for anyone else going to do an internship?

Show your enthusiasm! So often I speak to someone and I want to hear their ‘spark’ and I want to know their opinions. For example, if you’re applying for a marketing role, tell me the direction you would take the company’s social media. If you’re applying for the environmental sector I want to hear the latest technologies that excite you! Tell me something I haven’t heard from every other candidate.

Rishi

1. What has been the highlight of your internship?

July's social getting my lindy hop on!

2. What have you learnt during your internship?

No matter your experience or academics, nothing makes up for genuine interest in the industry and the role you're applying for.

3. What’s your top tip for anyone else going to do an internship?

Don't make easily avoidable mistakes when applying for it. For one, get the name of the company right and do not refer to Rishi as Richard.

Want to get your hands on your own internship for next year? Take a look at our Summer Internship Programme, applications for which are now open! Or if you're a graduate we still have lots of internship opportunities, most of which have a permanent job ready and waiting for you at the end!
