Survitec Group is a global leader in survival technology, dedicated to protecting lives through innovative safety and survival solutions across maritime, defence, and aerospace sectors. With a presence in over 70 locations and a workforce of 3,000, Survitec has grown both organically and through acquisitions to solidify its position as an industry pioneer. In 2021, they partnered with Instant Impact to address the challenges of scaling their recruitment processes, moving away from agency reliance, and building a centralised, efficient, and high-quality hiring strategy to support their continued growth and success.

The
Challenge

Managing 600 hires annually across 70 global locations posed significant challenges. With hiring handled by generalist HR teams, processes lacked consistency, efficiency, and the control needed to scale effectively.

The goals were clear:

  1. Reduce dependency on recruitment agencies and their high costs
  2. Improve the candidate and hiring manager experience
  3. Implement a standardised, efficient global recruitment process
  4. Address attrition through better hiring decisions and onboarding
  5. Increase speed of hire while maintaining high-quality standards

However, the scale of these challenges made it clear that they lacked the internal capacity and expertise to implement these changes alone.

The
Solution

We partnered with Survitec Group in September 2021 to build a centralised recruitment function tailored to their needs:

  • Embedded Recruitment Team: With a focus on understanding the culture, pain points, and long-term strategy, we built and embedded a dedicated recruitment team within Survitec, providing flexibility to scale based on hiring needs.
  • Transparent Cost Model: A predictable and cost-effective pricing structure eliminated the unpredictability of agency-style fees.
  • Subject Matter Expertise: Our team provided a single point of contact, managing day-to-day recruitment while offering insights into inclusion, diversity, and hiring best practices.
  • Technology and Marketing: We introduced advanced tools and employer branding strategies to improve processes and attract quality candidates.

This embedded approach allowed Survitec Group to shift from agency dependency to a cohesive, in-house model tailored for their global needs.

The
Results

By reducing their reliance on agencies, we helped Survitec achieve cost savings of over £1M in the first year alone. Our partnership standardised recruitment processes across their global locations, ensuring consistency and efficiency. Additionally, we improved their speed of hire, enabling faster placement of top talent without compromising quality. Better hiring decisions and enhanced onboarding processes also significantly reduced attrition rates. Most importantly, our collaborative approach elevated the experience for hiring managers, candidates, and HR teams alike, fostering a seamless and positive recruitment journey across the board.
